Mentoring 20/40: An Experience for Every Black Woman

It’s a sisterhood that establishes lifelong relationships, supports “let-your-hair-down” talks and expands the pool of talented, diverse leaders that are essential to achieving equity and improving the health and wealth of our economy.

Created in 2019, this pipeline program continues to produce success stories. In one survey, 50 percent of the mentees have launched or improved their business venture because of these partnerships.

Participants are matched based on a self-evaluation of strengths and needs. Following training, pairs work together for eight months. Mentors provide advice and guided assignments designed to meet stated goals.

“I felt it only made sense to give back to the next generation of entrepreneurs coming behind me and to show them the knowledge and little nuggets I have gained over the years,” remarks, mentor Yemi Sekoni, President of the Donahue Group and Founder and Executive Producer of Rhode Island Fashion Week.

Yemi continues to share her gifts and has already mentored three leaders.
